QUESTION:

Could most of Scripture, huge parts of the New Testament, and especially the so-called ‘Hebrew’  Gospel of Matthew, be ‘lost,’ ‘replaced,’ and thus be ‘completely corrupted, as this cult alleges?’

ANSWER

No one can argue that many have attempted to do that — (the complete corruption of the truth of God’s Word,) but all have failed!

Of course evil religionists have twisted, distorted, omitted, abused, used, misinterpreted, and added their destructive heresies to the Word of God, (Mark 7:13; 2 Pt. 2:1-22.)

Many have ‘made the [truth] Word powerless through their traditions, and set aside the Word of God to hold on to their traditions, while teaching as commandments the commands of  men,’ (Mark 7:7-13.)

Thousands more, (their evil ‘hearts trained in covetous practices,’) have used the Word to ‘make utensils of you,’ [tools or useful pieces of equipment, in order to enrich themselves.]

Instead of pouring out the Living Water of the Word, ‘they speak great swelling words of emptiness.’  Instead of giving souls the liberty of Jesus’ Gospel, ’they themselves are slaves of corruption.’ - 2 Pet. 2.

HOWEVER, Jesus IS the Word of God, (Jn. 1:1-2.)  The Word IS God. Jesus cannot get ‘lost,’ be destroyed, or corrupted!

Through His Son, The Word, God created the heavens and the earth and all that is within it, (Heb. 1:1-14.)

At the dawning of the New Testament dispensation, The Word, Jesus, “became flesh and lived among us,” (Jn. 1:14.)

When Jesus, The Living Word, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell every one of His sincere believers, (Jn. 1:12-13; Gal. 4:6.)

The Holy Spirit is The Teacher, The Spirit of Truth, Who came to lead Jesus’ disciples into ALL truth, (Jn. 16:13.)

The Spirit ‘interpreted’ or revealed the purpose, unity, and the unbroken connection between the OT Scriptures and the NT Gospel of Jesus to His earliest disciples first, (Mt. 5:17; Heb. chapters 8-10.)

Thus the Spirit did not dictate word-for-word, but inspired the NT Gospel, when He ‘moved’ or motivated them to  write the original, 1st century manuscripts in KOINE GREEK, (2 Pt. 1:21.)

Of course the Spirit’s motivation had to filter through ‘earthen vessels’ unto paper, (2 Cor. 4:7; 2 Tim. 2:20.)

As the Word was inspired and not dictated, it is true that one can find some “discrepancies” or human errors in Scripture.   But in spite of ALL this, the ‘ENTIRETY OF GOD’S WORD’ - all N.T. Scripture taken together, as foreshadowed by the entirety of  O.T. Scripture, became God’s NEW COVENANT OF TRUTH, written on paper, (2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 8-10.)

If God allowed religionists to ‘lose’ and corrupt His “entire” Word, that would nullify His all-powerful promise and the existence of The Word, The Lord Jesus Christ Himself.  The promise, which The (N.T.) Word, Jesus, confirmed by quoting O.T. Scripture, “It is written, ‘man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD [correctly quoted and contextually interpreted] that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Of course, it is not written, ‘every word that proceeds from the mouth of Paul or Peter,’ because all the disciples were, and are, mere servants of Christ.  But it is foolish to discard the

epistles of Paul, because God Himself chose him [as all other] feeble, ‘earthen vessels’ to ‘explain’ the N.T. Gospel more clearly, (Gal. 1:12; 2:2; 2 Cor. 12:7.)

The Scriptures will always remain the miraculous wonder of God’s Word — which is found in the entire context of the Bible, and especially the N.T. Gospel in its entirety. Jesus Himself is The Word of God.  Therefore, He could NEVER be ‘lost,’ annulled, or changed!

Ps. 119:160 declares that ‘the ENTIRETY OF WORD IS TRUTH.’  In other words, if one reads the Bible from cover to cover, and ask the Father for the leading, teaching, and revelation of the Holy Spirit, one would definitely find the TRUTH of God’s Word, which ‘will NEVER pass away.’

God had miraculously preserved His Word there, on paper, because the ‘entirety’ of the Word is ‘INCORRUPTIBLE, and thus it endures FOREVER!’

Just as Jesus had promised, the words which HE spoke, ‘they are spirit, and they are life!’

· Mt. 4:4; 1 Pt. 1:23; Jn. 6:63.

THROUGH A LACK OF GODLY FEAR, THEY TARGET MUCH MORE THAN THE NAME OF JESUS

According to the many variations of the Name ‘Yehoshua,’ that these ‘enlightened ones’ do not know the name of their christ at all.  All so-called ‘hidden’ or ‘higher knowledge’ of God’s Word is Gnostism.  Gnostism is a pagan belief, which fixes humanity’s salvation solely upon so-called human mind-knowledge, and not upon true faith in the Biblical Savior and obedience to His true, contextual Word.  While most fallacies concentrate on the truly Scripturally born again believer’s daily walk with Christ, these people target the believer’s life in Christ – the very salvation of his or her ever-living soul!  Subsequently, this debate does not merely relate to the Name of Jesus or the origin of the word ‘christ.’  It attacks the Character and Person of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God.

‘YOU ACTUALLY CALL UPON BAAL AND ZEUS, AND THE GREEK GODDESS IESOUS’

The reasoning behind the ‘Jehovah’ and ‘Jashua’-argument is supposedly “based on historical and Scriptural fact, and knowledge of the original Hebrew language.”  However, their allegations prove the complete opposite.

Ignorant of the Hebrew language and its pronunciation, they allege, “To call Jesus ‘Lord,’ is to call upon Baal, because the name ‘Baal’ means ‘lord’ in Hebrew.  Early translators of the Bible replaced the Name of Messiah Jahshua, (or Yehoshua) with the title ‘lord.’  Thus, when you call Him ‘Lord,’ you refer to Baal.”

They also allege that the Greek Name of Jesus was derived from ‘the Greek goddess Iesous.’  They say that the ‘soos’ of Ie-‘sous’ means ‘man horse’ in Hebrew and ‘earth pig’ in Latin!

Similarly ‘Je-zeus,’ from which the Name of Jesus was supposedly derived,  “relates to the Greek god Zeus.”  “So,” they say, “when you call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, you call upon the sun god Baal, the Greek god Zeus, and the goddess Iesous – an entirely false savior, whose name means ‘earth pig’ and ‘man horse!’”

Firstly, the goddess “Iesous” they refer to was called ‘IASO,’ not ‘Iesous.’  The Greek Name ‘Iesous’ is not a false Name with “roots in the Greek-Hellenistic paganism!”

Secondly, the origin of the Name ‘Iesous’ is indeed Greek and not Hebrew, because it is proven fact that 1st century, New Testament writings in Hebrew do not exist.

Thirdly, the Hebrew adjective ‘-soos’ does not relate to the Greek Name ‘Iesous,’ and it does not describe Jesus’ Name in Hebrew or in Latin!

‘Seek God Ministries’ explained, “It goes without saying that Acts 4:11-12 does not read the English Name ‘Jesus’ in the original [Koine] Greek manuscripts.  The English language did not yet exist.  It is true that Peter did not say "Jesus" was the Christ’s Name, as Peter did not speak Latin or English.  Neither did Peter say Jesus’ Name was the Hebraic spelling and pronunciation of the modern name Yeshua, [or Yehoshua.]  Peter said His Name is Iesous, the Greek Name for Jesus…  The English name Jesus derives from the [later] Latin Name Iesus, [not the goddess Iaso,] which was translated from the [earlier] Koine Greek name ησος  or Iēsoûs.”  The Modern Greek letters IHΣOYΣ definitely do translate as ‘Jesus Christ.’  [Acknowledgement to my Greek friend Vicky.]

‘CHRIST’ IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR ‘MESSIAH!’

The Wikipedia Online Encyclopedia declares, “Christ does not ‘rename’ ‘Yehoshua Messiah,’ nor does the word ‘Christ’ constitute another meaning for [the real Hebrew] Messiah!”

‘Christ’ simply means ‘Savior.’

The Hebrew word ‘Messiah’ also means ‘Savior.’

We do not have to speak Hebrew for God to understand and acknowledge us.  God is all-knowing, or omniscient.  As Creator of all the languages in heaven and on earth, (1 Cor. 13:1,) He understands English perfectly.

COULD THE NAME OF JESUS REFER TO ZEUS?

As explained in “HOW SECRET SOCIETIES CONTROL THE RISE AND FALL OF RELIGIONS — Part 4, ”the concocted, (not translated) word ‘church’ completely replaced the Koine-Greek word ‘ecclesia’ in the Bible.  The word ‘church,’ (which was derived from the word and concept ‘circle,’ the Druidic ‘circus/fairy ring,’) completely changed and nullified the meaning, structure, form, calling, function, and the very nature of the word ‘ecclesia,’ the “called out assembly” of the born again body of ChristBut the English Name ‘Jesus’ does not change or nullify the Character and Person of the Biblical, New Testament Christ, Iesous

‘Seek God’ explains, “If we take the logic used in the Jesus/Ge-zeus dogma, and apply it to a Hebraic context, then people could never name their children Nathan or Jonathan, because those names have the same ending as Satan…”

Well, of course, that is ridiculous!

And when the same ‘logic’ is applied to the Name of Jesus that is just most evil blasphemy!

THE EVOLUTION, PRONUNCIATION, AND TRANSLATION OF HEBREW AND GREEK

Jason Dulle wrote, “Hebrew is a consonantal language, [b,c,d,f,g,h,j,k,l,m,n,p,q,r,s,t,v,w,x,y,z,] having no vowels [a,i,e,o,u...] No one knows exactly how Ancient Hebrew, [the language God spoke to Abram,] was pronounced.  [For instance, YHWH was probably never pronounced “Yahweh.”]  The closest idea of how to pronounce Hebrew comes from those who lived some 2,300 years after the earliest Hebrew Scriptures, and some 1,300 years after the latest Hebrew writings….  There can be no doubt that the vocalization [of later years] was not that of the Paleo-Hebraic, [the ancient Hebrews,] or even the later Hebrew dialects up to the time of Christ…”

“In Jesus’ time, Jerusalem was a booming metropolis under Roman control.  Many languages and dialects were spoken in the regions where Jesus and the disciples ministered – and God did not object to any in favor of the Hebrew language.  Jesus and His disciples spoke Aramaic, Modern Hebrew, and Koine Greek.  Koine Greek is ‘common,’ first century Greek and the forerunner of Modern Greek, which evolved from classical Greek between 300 B.C. and A.D. 300.

“Under Roman rule, the 1st century Jews used Koine Greek as the language of the New Testament Scriptures and the spreading of the Gospel.  Jesus and His disciples were very familiar with Koine Greek.

“Ancient Hebrew was the language in which God first declared Himself to Moses as ‘YHWH.’  This Name is unpronounceable, but translates as ‘I Am Who I Am.’

Today, Jews speak Yiddish, not Ancient or Modern Hebrew.  Yiddish is a 10th century, “non-territorial, High German language, written with the Hebrew alphabet.”

Consequently, even modern Jews are unable to pronounce the intricate language of the ancient Hebrews, as ‘modern’ Hebrew and Yiddish changed over time, just as all the other languages on earth.

TRANSLATING ‘IESOUS’ TO ‘JESUS’ IS NOT ‘TWICE REMOVED FROM THE TRUTH!’

‘Transliteration’ means to copy letters directly, but unintelligibly from one alphabet to another.  But ‘translation’ means to interpret the meaning of a word, and then to replace it with another, which expresses the content of the sentence, paragraph, and chapter.

Dan Corner wrote in ‘Yeshua or Jesus,’ “The New Testament was written in [Koine] Greek. Hence, the name "Jesus" is found nowhere in the [Greek] Scriptures — it is a translation of the Greek name "Iesous… [Later, we deal with the so-called “Hebrew” version of the New Testament name Iesous.]  The New Testament was written in Greek, A.D. 50  to  A.D. 95.  God wanted the Greek speaking world of the first century to know the Name of “Messiah,” which brings salvation, healing and power over demons, to be "Iesous" (or Jesus in English) and not "Yeshua."  If God wanted the Jewish writers of the New Testament to use the Name Yeshua, they would have but they didn't. To say Yeshua means "salvation…" and it doesn't [adequately] identify the One who shed His blood on the cross, rose from the dead, and is coming back again, as the New Testament identifies Jesus of Nazareth…  Yeshua is never found in the Old Testament or in the New Testament in reference to Messiah.  Messiah is never identified by name in the Hebrew Old Testament Scriptures”

‘Seek God Ministries’ confirmed, “Some have promoted… that the Messiah's Name is Yashua, and that it means “Yahweh is our salvation"….  [Implying militant, physical salvation from political oppression!]  This is incorrect…  In Mt. 1:21 we find, ‘[And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His Name Jesus,] for He will save His people from their sins…’”  This explains that Jesus’ Name donates spiritual salvation and redemption to all His believer disciples, because His “Kingdom is not from here,” (Jn. 18:36.)  It has no such origin, source, or political aspirations, and can therefore never be confused (as most churches deliberately do,) with the Kingdom Now theology, which churches teach.

The writer is saying that Jesus became The Savior and Spiritual Redeemer, not a physical warrior or religious high priest like the Old Testament ‘Yehoshua’ or Joshua!  The New Testament Savior, Redeemer, and Everlasting High Priest belongs to a completely New Covenant.  A New Dispensation.  A completely New, Spiritual Priestly Order, that of Melchizedek. [Heb. 5:5-6; 7:1-3; 1 Pt. 2:9-10.]

The writer of ‘Seek God Ministries’ explains, “The only reason one would need to stress a certain pronunciation of a name is if by failing to do so, the meaning and identity of the one behind the name was altered or lost.  This is not true with the English name for the Hebrew Savior, Jesus.  Whether I say "Jesus" or "Iesous," it is clear that one Person is being referred to: Jesus the Christ.  There is no loss in meaning… “

THIS ‘YESHUA,’ ‘JEHOSHUA,’ ETC. IS NOT THE OLD TESTAMENT, HEBREW MESSIAH

‘Seek God Ministries’ continues, “[It is foolish to adopt] language concepts while ignoring the rules that govern translation and vocalization, and then applying them to other languages to aid in the formation of a Hebrew sounding name, which does not demonstrate sound or acceptable scholarship…  Many have been falsely led to believe that "Yashua" is the original Hebrew name for the MessiahIn order for ‘Yahshua’ to be an actual name in Hebrew, it would need to be spelled in Hebrew as Yod-Hey-Shin-Vav-Ayin.  Unfortunately, this name cannot be found anywhere in the Hebrew Scriptures.  What you will find is [the ‘modern’] Yehoshua (H3091…) or the shortened [‘modern’] form Yeshua (H3442-H3443…)  The rules that govern Greek grammar dictate that [these Hebrew letters] cannot be vocalized…  [Yet in the fabricated, so-called ‘Hebrew’ New Testament, ‘Yashua’ replaced the Name of Jesus, (Mt. 1:21!)]

“‘Yahshua’ is a manufactured name that has been assembled using faulty scholarship in an effort to support a [false] theological agenda…  ‘Yahshua’ cannot be found in the Hebrew Scriptures….  I can also assure you that the Hebrew name "Yeshua" is not the name of the Messiah…  Knowing that transliteration and direct pronunciation from Hebrew to Greek (or from any other language) is impossible.”

“An argument in favor of the [so-called] Hebrew  ישוע Yeshua is that the Old Syriac Bible, [200 A.D. – a late translation indeed,] and the Peshitta preserves this same spelling using the ‘equivalent’ Aramaic letters to the Hebrew letters of Yeshua.  (The modern Syriac now vocalizes the name as Isho...)  [However,] these texts were translated from the Greek…  [And the Name of Jesus was deliberately replaced with ‘Yeshua.’]  The Toledot Yeshu [calls Jesus] Jesu… “

DOES THE WORD ‘LORD’ MEAN ‘BAAL?’

The true Hebrew meaning of the word ‘Lord,’ as described by Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, has absolutely nothing to do with the sun god Baal as Messianics allege.  Ref. No. 3068 explained, “Jehowah [actually the unpronounceable YHWH,] means LORD, (the) Self-Existent or Eternal…  [The Great I Am Who I Am, as God said to Moses in Ex. 3:14.]  The Jewish national Name of God is [YHWH,] the Lord.  Through the Old and New Testaments the word ‘Lord’ describes and defines God (and His Son Jesus’) Divine Title, Position, Person, Being, and His interaction with humankind.  [I.e., The Lord Jesus Christ.]  When He declared to Moses in ancient Hebrew that He is ‘YHWH,’ translated as ‘I Am Who I Am,’ (Ex. 3:14,) He revealed His Divine, Most High Name and Nature, which describes and declares His Character and all His God-qualities.”

The focus of Hebrew names is on the person, not the name.  Hebrew names describe who the person is.  Like God’s Name ‘I Am Who I Am,’ Hebrew names are actually sentences or phrases of a sentence, describing the person’s character.  In the same way, Jesus declared His Names as I Am the Resurrection and the Life.  I Am the Bread from heaven.  I Am the Good Shepherd.  I Am the Alpha and Omega…

Thus, the Biblical word ‘Lord’ definitely does not relate to the sun god Baal in any way.

Nevertheless, by focusing on a name and not on God the Person, churches like the Jehovah’s Witnesses introduced many strange doctrines that moves the focus from God to the name itself.  To support their doctrines, Jehovah’s Witnesses even changed the ‘Y’ and ‘W’ of God’s Hebrew Name JHWH or as we pronounce it, “Yehowah,” to the ‘J’ and ‘V’ of their fabricated name ‘Jehovah.’

While Jehovah’s Witnesses twist and abuse the Name of God, the Old Testament Name of God YHWH, (“I Am Who I Am,”) does indeed refer to ‘The Lord, Our Creator.’   Strong’s Concordance # 3068 and 3091 interprets God’s Hebrew Name, YHWH as “Self–Existent,” “Eternal,” or “The Lord.”

Hebrews called YHWH by the following Names — The Lord, our Sanctification, (Yehovah-Makaddeshkem, Ex. 31:13;) The Lord, Our Peace, (Yehovah-Shalom, Judg. 6:24;) The Lord will see to it, (Yehovah-Yireh,) The Lord, The Judge, (Yehovah-Shaphat, Judg. 11:27;)  The Lord of Hosts, (Yehovah-Saboath, 1 Sam. 1:3;)  The Lord, our Righteousness, (Yehovah-Zidkenu, Jer. 23:6;) The Lord, the Shepherd, (Yehovah-Ra-ah, Ps. 23:1;)  The Lord, the Blessor, (Yehovah-Elyon, Ps. 7:17;) The Lord, the Maker, (Yehovah-Mosenu, Ps. 95:6;)  The Lord, the Almighty, (Yehovah-Gibbor, Is. 42:13;) The Lord, the Ever-present, (Yehovah-Shammah, Ezk. 48:35… )

[Acknowledgement to my friend Mercedes Simms — a former Jehovah’s Witness, who supplied some of the information on the Lord Yehowah’s Name.  Mercedes was saved, healed, and delivered by the blood of the Lamb, the Son of the Living God YHWH, the New Covenant Lord Jesus Christ!  Praise His Holy Name!]

THE SO-CALLED ‘UNPARDONABLE SIN’ OF NOT CALLING GOD BY HIS OLD TESTAMENT NAME

As God remains the God of the Old and the New Testaments, all of our Lord YHWH’s Divine Titles also belong to The Lord Jesus, spelled YHS in Hebrew.  (Do not be fooled by Hebrew spelling that spells the Name of Jesus as Yeshua.  Jesus is not Joshua a political liberator.  He is King of His eternal Spiritual Kingdom.)

Personally and Scripturally born again, New Testament believers do not have to call God ‘Yehowah’ or ‘YHWH.’  We would not be able to pronounce His Name correctly in any case.  I am sure God understands English just fine.  God spoke ancient Hebrew to Moses when He called him.  He spoke Afrikaans to me when He called me, and He speaks Zulu, Chinese, Russian, and any other language on earth to those whom He calls ‘from every tribe, and tongue, and nation.’  He commanded Joseph to name His Son ‘Iesous’ in Koine Greek; Peter was called Achitzur in Hebrew; Luke was Avner, Stephen was Atir, and so on.  It is ridiculous to trouble non-Jews or Gentiles with Hebrew and Greek names, and it is unhealthy and unfruitful to argue that we must burden ourselves with the Hebrew Names and Titles of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

An unknown writer commented, “On one of these Yeshua sites, the following is given for Mt. 1:20,21, but without mentioning what version of this Gospel:  ‘Yosef (Joseph), son of David, do not be afraid to take Miryam home with you as your wife; for what has been conceived in her is from the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua…  Mattityahu (Matthew) 1:20b-21.” Notice that Yeshua was used in the place of Jesus! How some of these Messianic people seemingly hate the Name of Jesus is amazing.”

Isn’t it amazing that only the Name of Jesus is used as a swear word?  I have never heard that anyone uses the name Yeshua as a swearword—or actually the name of anyone or anything else that is worshipped as a god here on earth!  Only the Most Holy Name of Jesus is slandered and defiled, because “there is salvation in no other name…’ (Acts 4:12!)

DID GOD COMMAND BELIEVERS TO CALL THE NEW TESTAMENT/COVENANT CHRIST ‘YESHUA?’

The Scriptures, which Messianics and others use to ‘prove’ their doctrines, all refer to Joshua, the sun of Nun, Moses’ successor, and the old Levitical high priest Joshua.

God Himself commanded Joseph to name His Son ‘Jesus’ and ‘Immanuel,’ (Mt. 1:21-23.)

The prophet named Christ Jesus very clearly in Isa. 9:6, ‘For unto us a Child is born… a Son is given: and the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His Name will be called Wonderful, (6382, ‘pele’ – wonderfully [miraculously] made;) Counselor, (3289, yâ’ats – to deliberate, resolve or guide;) Mighty God, (1386 and 410 – ‘gabnôn’ and ‘êl – the Unshakable, Almighty, Supreme God;) [therefore Jesus is called Almighty [God] in Rev. 1:8.] Everlasting Father, (5703, without end;) Prince of Peace, (8269 – chief, governor, keeper, Lord, master, ruler, steward.)  - [Strong’s, Hebrew and Chaldee dictionary.]

THE DELIBERATE INSERTION OF THE NAMES YESHUA AND YHWH IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

The original, 1st century, Koine Greek, (New Testament) manuscripts, written between A.D. 50 and A.D. 95, do not contain the Yiddish Names ‘Y(J)eshua’ and ‘Y(Ja)hweh.’  These names were inserted into Scripture at a later stage to emit a false Messianic theology.

What about the ‘Name’ YAH?  “Y(J)ah is not an abbreviation of ‘Jehovah,’ (Jehovah is a Jehovah Witness concoction of the Hebrew “JHWH.”)  Jah [actually Yah] means ‘He Who Is,’ [not ‘I Am Who I Am,’ or YHWH.]  “Yah implies God experienced as a Present Help; so that “Hallelu-YAH” is found first in the Psalms… and occurs four times in Rev. 19:1-7…  In Isa. 12:2 and 26:4 both Yah and YHWH are used beside each other in the same verse. This proves that [Yah] is not an abbreviated form of YHWH…" - [Jamieson, Fausset, & Brown, D.]
